Raptor Nest Surveys and Monitoring
The nests of certain species of raptors are protected year-round, regardless of activity. AquaTerra personnel have conducted raptor surveys and raptor nest monitoring for a variety of projects including the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement project, Port-Mann Highway 1 (Gateway) project, Evergreen Rapid Transit project and Second Narrows Bridge improvement project, as well as a variety of development and neighbourhood plan projects. Raptor nest surveys and monitoring may also be a component of municipal and federal Environmental Assessments, or conversely, may be conducted for due diligence purposes. Surveys and recommendations adhere to the Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Raptor Conservation during Urban and Rural Land Development in British Columbia.
